If you consider yourself a heavyset honey, a curvy cutie or a plump princess, listen up. The time for great plus sized Halloween costumes has arrived. No longer do the bigger gals have to sit on the sidelines in the same frumpy look. The fluffy ones are no longer stuck being just the grannies, the hags or the other shapeless outfits. There are no longer snickering and eye rolling when you ask to be directed to the plus sized section only to find two or three costume choices. You no longer have to be a clown or wear a man’s costume. Yes ladies, the time has finally come. All the chubby girls say “oh yeah!”
First things first though: even though the costume says “plus size” that does not mean that it will automatically fit- you still have to make sure that you are buying the right size to fit your body and your frame. What counts as plus size for one company will not automatically be the same thing for another company. You also have to be aware that in some cases, plus sized costumes are cut a little fuller in the shoulder, hips and the bust area, so if you are not big all over, you might find yourself with a small fit problem.
And, don’t think that it’s only the women that need plus sized costumes, there are just as many men who need a larger cut for their waistline and more. These men do not want to be stuck with the same old robe and boring costume any more than the girls do, so thankfully the companies are starting to listen to these demands.
Some of the best of the plus sized costumes can be sweet (Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, etc), sassy ( a saloon girl or tavern wench) wicked ( the Evil Queen or a bad little devil) or sexy ( a vixen pirate wench, saucy sorceress or a sexy take on fairy tale characters.) No matter what look you would like to have, you can find them all. There are more and more plus sized Halloween costumes coming out every year as the world keeps getting bigger and the demand keeps growing. No matter what you are thinking, you can get the right look and the right fit for your Halloween costume for men and women of every size.
