Ladies, if you are looking for two good costume choices that will allow you to be as wild and wooly, loud and lusty as you want to be, then the saloon girl and showgirl costumes are the right picks for you. For an added bonus, the saloon girl costume was practically made for the curvier gal, so those who have a little more of them to love can shine extra brightly in this look.
The Saloon Girl typically starts with a velvety dress cut low in the front and often off of the shoulders. If you get a top of the line dress you will have a hoop that holds the full skirt out, meant to be able to be pulled up to flash lacy pantaloons and petticoats. If you wear very stiff crinolines under your skirt you won’t have to have the hoop. You can usually find the Saloon Girl costume in several colors but the most popular choices are in burgundy or bright red.
The Show Girl Costumes are typically a little shorter and may have a longer hem in the back. This was so that the girls could hold up the front of their skirt and dance the Can Can, showing off their legs to the shouting crowd. Of course the show girl still needed to have a little modesty so they wore lacy pantaloons under their dresses as well.

Your shoes should be simple black pumps, but black button ankle boots would work nicely here as well.
