Masks for Halloween: All the Fun without the Smudge
Halloween can mean many things for many people. Some of use like the idea of eating great flowing handfuls of candy and then cursing the weird dreams we have afterward. Some of us like to decorate every square inch of our homes and play creepy music in a desperate attempt to hold the neighborhood children at bay. (You know what works? Play that music and have creepy bats and stuff in July.) And some of us just adore getting dressed up in different costumes, some elaborate and some fairly plain. How much time and effort we put into it will depend on how much of a Halloween fan we are. Of course, there are other reasons that we may have to tone down some of the Halloween fun- especially when it involves our faces. So if you are on the fence and are not sure whether it is makeup or Halloween masks for Halloween, let’s run through some considerations.
When Time is an Issue
Sure, if you have a simple costume idea in mind the makeup will only take a few minutes, but if you need a full face, multi-layered process you are going to need a lot more time. If you are pressed for time then, it might be far easier to wear one of the great masks for Halloween instead. Think about it, you are running late, you throw on the bottom part of your costume, pull into the parking lot, yank on your Halloween mask and you are set to party with the other beasties and goblins. Simple!
When Your Safety is an Issue
Alright, there are pros and cons to this being an adult thing- candy and cookies for breakfast? Big pro. Having to pay for the dental bill on your own? Con, con, con. However, as the adult you will probably have to be doing the driving to and from Halloween events which means that safety may be an issue for you. While it would be safer from a driving standpoint to wear makeup, if you are pulled over or something during the drive, the makeup could be a hindrance. Bringing a Halloween mask with you instead could be a far better idea.
When your Face is the Issue
Okay, some of us have really sensitive skin and have to be really careful about what we put on our faces. If this is the case for you, then Halloween makeup may not be a very good idea for you. Allergic reactions and break outs are just not worth it, so wearing your choice of Halloween masks can help you save your skin from the suffering.
Masks are not perfect but they may be a far better choice in a number of situations. If you have a smaller head then look at the children’s sizes for better fit. If you have a larger head do not buy your mask without trying it on, especially if it goes over your whole head.
No matter what Halloween mask you choose to go with your costume, make sure that you have a great time out there and remember the rule, all cherry candy is immediately turned over to me!
