Christmas Costumes for 2009

Santa Claus is one of the most common costumes for Christmas. But, who says that only men can wear the look? From Santa costumes for women, the kids and even your pets, everyone can get into the act. Whether they take their cues from the jolly ol’ Elf himself or add their own flair to it, the Santa costume is not just a male thing anymore. Here are some tips for adding a little bit of you to the non-traditional Santa Claus costumes for men, women, children and pets.

Changing it up a little bit for the guys

Santa suits are great looking gear and come in every price range. However, there are dozens of them running around in the exact same look. Adding a little of yourself to your christmas costume can set you apart from the herd of Ho Ho Hoers, the collection of Claus, (a jingle or Kringles?)  If you like a little extra flash to your look, start with a little bit of sequins, lights and flash to make the costume really stand out. If you are a whiz with technical effect, add a hidden source of music and serenade the crowd as you mingle and jingle along. For a really different kick, wear the Santa beard, hat and other accessories with a totally different suit- who says that Kris Kringle cannot show up in a fitted tux a la James Bond or in a motorcycle jacket and black leather pants?

Getting the girls into the act

Whether they want to wear the traditional, Father Christmas look or go with a little sexier look, the women can wear the Santa look with ease as well. No one needs to know it is a woman behind that fluffy white beard, if they choose to wear it. Or, they can skip the beard and wear a shorter, flirty version of the look and be Santa Baby instead.

Little Clauses and Clausettes

The kids can wear the costume, again with or without the beard and wig. There are countless varieties, from every size imaginable. You can have a sleeping Santa in a crib all the way to a teen Santa, glaring at everyone and thinking that the naughty list just got a whole lot longer.

Santa Bow and Kitty Claus

If you are lucky enough to have pets that will let you put outfits on them, you can dress them up as Santa. Santa is supposed to have a special rapport with animals of all kinds and the animals might actually enjoy getting the red fur hat and other parts of the christmas costume put on. Make sure that you give them treats for not eating the Santa gear!
