Star Wars Costumes for Children

Some kids will get hooked on the biggest trend of the year. You will know what costume he wants by the characters that you stub your toes on every night as you stumble your way to the bathroom. Come on, we all know it’s true. By the way, ma’am? That is no language for a mother! Then there are the kids who apparently had their sense of imagination and wonder removed in the first grade because they are the same exact thing every year and even that is getting to be a struggle. Then you have the kids that are hooked on the magic of one particular movie and will wear a different costume from the series every year. And for many of these kids, Star Wars is the way to go. If your kids’ Star Wars costumes are well made, they can wear them for play wear as well, or you could put them away and pray that any huge growth spurts come sometime in November.

But, Moms don’t worry- the Star Wars costumes has a little something for everybody- you can hope that your child ends up wearing the costume of the good side or you can hope that the bad side garb is his only evil he has available to him.

The Good Guys (And Gals)

Well, I am the Queen of Halloween so we do this in the order that I deem fit: number one, Han Solo. (Moms, can I get a united purr for Harrison Ford?)  The outfit for Mr. Solo is brown pants, white shirt and brown tunic/vest. Optional phaser gun makes the costume just a little more bad- which is oh so good.

Chewbacca: one of the furriest kids Star Wars costumes, ever. Okay, so Chewie is a big, walking carpet with an attitude. He is also the best friend of Han Solo and his copilot. Let’s see that precious shag you keep hollering about do that!  Because the Chewbacca costume has a full mask, make sure that you get the right size for safety and so that your child can see well.

Luke Skywalker, the hero?  Blonde haired, blue eyed, young Luke nearly lost it all in the first installment of the series and nearly turned to the dark side later. For the most part young Master Skywalker has an all white jumpsuit which really sets off the great and optional light sabre (no Jedi should be without one.)  When he is contemplating his turn, the Luke costume is all black.

Princess Leia, got to have a flowing white dress, kiss Han Solo and turned out to be pretty handy with a phaser pistol as well. If your daughter would prefer a different female heroine, then she could choose Princess Amidala, who had a much more colorful wardrobe and a slightly better hairstyle.

The Bad Guys

Darth Vader, the dark Imperial Lord ruled with an iron fist, a scary face mask and a voice that made people chill just hearing it. He also rocked out the mind control and turned out to be Luke Skywalker’s father. All of that, a creepy kids Star Wars costume and a light sabre? Sign me up!

The Storm Troopers. Okay, the Queen of Halloween has a little confession to make here. My sister, the Queen of nothing in particular, was always afraid of the Storm Troopers- said that they creeped her out in a major way. Oh well, that is her beef. There is nothing better than this costume, especially for those little boys who will not sit still for makeup and could care less about taking good care of his costume for the next season. Tough, scary and bad to the bone, the Storm Trooper is a bad, bad guy but I but he will bring home lots of candy!
