Christmas Costumes - Elf Costume

Hello everybody! Elizabeth T. Elf here ready to get you ready for the Christmas countdown. There are a lot of people who enjoy dressing up in costumes whether it is for a party, Halloween or for Christmas time. And, there are certainly a lot to choose from- whether you want to be a jolly old Saint Nick, a fuzzy reindeer, a sexy Mrs. Claus or ahem, maybe an adorable elf? Oh, the things that people will do to have a good time! Here are suggestions for Christmas costumes, including the accessories that you absolutely must have for all of them.

The Reindeer Costume

Quick, name Santa’s reindeer! What do you mean Larry, Moe and Curly! Those are stooges, not reindeer, silly! They are: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blitzen. (Rudolph gets listed by himself that show off.) Of course, only the real deal can fly, but you certainly can look adorable in this Christmas costume. A brown and white furry suit is topped off by a headband of antlers (with or without flashing lights, jingle bells or both. Take it from an Elf who knows, you can never have too many little bells.)  If you want to really stand out, add the flashing red nose and go dressed as Rudolph. Hey, during the singing part of the evening you get to be center stage for at least one song.

Frosty the Snowman Costume

If I were not an Elf and a girl, I would want to be a snowman. That’s right, a snowman. As one of the most beloved of Christmas time stories, you can bet that Frosty will be one of the favorite Christmas costumes as well. Make sure that you are fluffy and be ready with Frosty’s line “Happy Birthday!” whenever you see little kids around.

The Elf Costume

Ah, how tempting to save this one, the one nearest and dearest to me for last, but you get fired for that around here, especially this time of year. So, I will be a good elf and tell you how to dress like one. The elf Christmas costume is adorable in green and red felt with pointed shoes, and a pointed, floppy hat with jingle bell at the end. (I told you, you can never have too many bells!)   We elves are also known for our pointy little ears, pink cheeks and our sweet smiles. Besides, who can be a grump while wearing pointy, belled shoes?

Mrs. Claus Costume

Whether you go with the old lady, demure version of Mrs Claus, or you trot out the sexy, short skirt version, this will always be one of the favorite Christmas costumes of women of all ages. If you are playing it demure, add a wig with a bun and wire rim glasses. For the sexy version carry around a sprig of mistletoe, but stay away from Frosty or he will melt!

Santa Claus Costume

The man of the hour deserves the best suit you can find. The greatest versions of this one are red velvet with soft plush texture and snowy white accents. If you have to budget a little on the suit, make sure that you splurge on the beard and eyebrows at least. Also, no matter how rocking your abs are, no one want to see a skinny Santa, so you better plump it up, or I will tell the real deal and you will get nothing at all for Christmas. Don’t say that you were not warned.
