Christmas Elf Costumes

Far be it for me to brag, but everyone loves a Christmas elf, don’t they! As the spokes elf for today, allow me to say that you could not make a better choice in holiday costume wear.  Elizabeth T. Elf is at your service, getting you ready to make your own elfy debut. Maybe you might like wearing it so much that you will develop your own elf-self alter ego. May I suggest, Elfish Presley?

For, me, the Christmas Elf costume  is all about the hat and the shoes, but then, again I am an elf who loves to shop. There is something about an elf shoe store, rows and rows of pointy toed shoes, little bells jingling…but wait, I am getting ahead of myself. Accessories and finishing touches come later in this story.

The Christmas elf costume itself depends on the gender of the elf. Boy elves get to wear their choice of tunic and trousers or tunic and tights- either way the color combinations should be red and green, green and red or green and white. Girl elves get the cute little skirt, sometimes held out with lots of crinolines, however if you do that, make sure that you don’t bend over or you will show more of your elf then you mean to! Girl elves can add red, white or green tights to their costume. Have you seen some of the cute tights they have now? Candy canes, snow men, you name it, they have them all over the little tights. My favorite are the ones with glittering snowflakes, but you can choose your own.

No elf respecting elf would ever show up without his or her elf hat in place. The hat should of course match the rest of the Christmas elf costume, and should flop over at a rather jaunty angle if I do say so myelf. Adding jingly bells to it makes the hat that much more jolly and that is the point of the elf, right?  The shoes are pointy at the toe and are actually very comfortable for all of your elf improvement needs. However, I would not recommend wearing them to run the North Pole marathon, those jingling bells get on your nerves at about mile ten!

I hope that you can be as merry as you look when you are wearing your Christmas Elf costume, and I hope that when you leave, someone somewhere turns to the crowd and announces that “Elfish has left the building.”
