Mrs Claus Costume - Christmas Costume

Ho Ho Ho! It’s Elizabeth T. Elf and I am back to give you great advice for recreating the look of one of my very favorite people, Mrs. Claus. If you want to put a little extra merriness in your holidays this year, then you need to start with a good Mrs Claus costume. There are several kinds to choose from, of course, from the good Mrs Claus that passes out freshly baked cookies to all of the good little boys and girls (and elves) to the naughty Mrs Claus that makes parts of the North Pole melt. (We call it summer.) We shall leave that costume to another day and focus on good Mrs Claus, she of the yummy cookies and twinkling eyes.

The best Mrs Claus costumes are full and fluffy, kind of like the ol’ gal herself. You can find them in a variety of materials and lengths, but no matter what they are made of or how long they are, they must be red with white trim. If you are going to be joining Santa on an outing, the Mrs Claus costume that you choose should resemble Santa’s as closely as possible. At some costume shops and online retailers you may get a discount if you buy both together, and if it is not offered, you could always ask. It never hurts to ask, right?

Mrs Claus’s costume will also need a number of accessories to make it perfect. Her hair is a perfect bun, kind of like the cinnamon flavored heaven she makes for her hubby in the morning times. If you do not have the right length or hair color to get the bun, then by all means, splurge on a wig. Make sure that it is snowy white though and not just silvery gray. Mrs Claus is not just some old lady, after all! Most of the time, Mrs Claus wears little wire framed glasses; you can buy these at the costume shop as well. Make sure that you add a little dash of cherry to the cheeks, because Santa is not the only merry Claus in the North Pole.

Most of the Mrs Claus costumes come to about ankle length which is perfect, especially if you are going to be walking a lot. Some go all the way to the floor though and should be worn when you are going to be assisting kiddies on and off Santa’s lap and not much else for your own safety. Your footwear should be black, preferably something in the nature of an ankle boot or something similar. Remember, only naughty Mrs Claus wears stiletto heels with her christmas costume.
