Alright, we all have one friend in our group that is a little, shall we say, uptight. That friend gets to be Marilyn, end of discussion. For the rest of you, fighting over who gets to be which of the Munsters is half of the fun. There are two ways to choose who gets to be who. Choice one: go traditional and follow the Munsters show as closely as possible. The tallest gets to be Herman Munster, one of the girls gets to be Lily, the shortest gets to be Eddie and whoever is left is automatically Grampa. See how easy that was? The other choice is to go opposite of the Munsters with the tallest being Eddie, etc. You put your own twists to it.

Herman Munster, the Munster’s well meaning but often bumbling head of household gets the traditional Frankenstein monster wear with a big, green mask to top him off. Practice saying, “darn, darn, darn” and stomping your big, heavy boots from time to time, but hopefully you won’t drag down half of the house when you do it.

Lily Munster, the lovely, vampire bride of Herman, gets to wear a pale pink, full length gown with black accents. For a truly authentic look, add a long black wig and practice looking slightly mortified at whatever your Herman just did.

Grampa Munster is the Munster’s vampire/ mad scientist elder statesman. He is often frustrated with Herman, but he still loves the big lug, somewhere in his Undead, batty heart. The Grampa Munster costume is traditional vampire wear with a large, green Grampa Munster mask.

Eddie Munster, the child of Herman and Lily is a werewolf child. How that happened exactly was never explained but no matter. Eddie is available as an adult sized costume and features the short velvet-look school boy costume that the hairy lad always wore along with the green face mask that will have you looking like Eddie in no time. If you feel like howling every now and again, that is fine, you are dressed as a wolf boy after all.

Whether you go as a group with your friends or you go by yourself in your favorite Munster Costume, make sure that you remember your Munster trivia: Marilyn was the “normal” one that the Munsters worried about, Spot was the fire breathing dragon that lived under the stairs, Eddie slept with a stuffed Wolfman doll. Grampa did experiments in the basements of the home, mostly botched. The family drove a hearse, of course and their address was 1313 Mockingbird Lane one of the most famous addresses from the days of old television.
