Halloween Costume Masks: From Glam to Damn!
Well, it’s time to ‘fess up once and for all: who is and is not good with the makeup brush? Anybody? Okay, so if you know that you are shaky as a cat eating chocolate covered coffee beans, you probably are not going to go in for the elaborate face painting kits offered as accessories to some Halloween costumes. And, you know that you are not going to look right with your average, normal human face sitting on top of what ever wicked wear you have selected. The only solution for you my dear is to shop for Halloween costume masks. Depending on the look you are going for and the budget you have to work with, you would be shocked at how amazing and realistic that some of these really are.
Start thinking: are you going to be scary, adorable, sexy, mysterious or amusing? The look you are going for with your costume will greatly influence the Halloween costume masks that you look at. Once you know that you will be going to dress up, you will be able to start narrowing down the masks that will look and feel right. Here are the tips for finding the right Halloween costume masks:
1. The right type
Don’t grab a fairy princess dress off of one shelf and then the Richard Nixon Halloween costume mask off of another, unless you really are trying to go for “Tinkernixon the Political Fairy”. Make sure that you are choosing the mask that is right for the costume that you are going to wear.
2. The right fit
Some Halloween costume masks, especially those that are meant to go over top of your entire head are sized for the average adult head. If you are smaller or larger than average, these may not be comfortable for you- so always check fit before you buy. Another thing to consider is whether or not you will be able to breath while wearing it and if you will comfortable with it on. Of course, if you have any known or suspected allergies, test the material of the mask on your arm before you put it on to avoid any unpleasant and dangerous surprises. Jumping out of the bushes on Halloween to scare the banana jam out of the neighbors is funny, falling to the floor, gasping for breath is not.
3. The right price
Finally, make sure that you are not going way over the top with the Halloween costume mask, unless it is going to be the focal part of the entire costume. If you already have the clothing part, then you might have a little more wiggle room in the budget to work with, but if you are starting from scratch, consider a more mid-range mask instead.
There you have it, tips for finding a Halloween costume mask. Now go out there and scare the neighbors- they are just begging for it!
