Five Great Reasons to Buy a Costume Online
Buying a costume online is a lot of fun. No! Honestly! While there are certainly horror stories about stolen identities and false merchandise, for the most part, online shopping is both convenient and safe. Here are five of the best reasons that you can use online shopping to minimize the heartache of costume shopping, especially if you are shopping for children.
Reason One: Minimize the I am in Public; You Can’t Beat Me, Meltdowns
There are moments in a parent’s life where they might actually weigh their options very carefully. After all, is it considered good form to sit down next to your tantrum tossing toddler and squall, too? Even the most well behaved child in the world is likely to go into full, I want that now, crybaby mode when faced with a ton of great choices. Case in point: Halloween costumes. Before going to the store, the kid knows without a doubt, set in stone his decision. Once he arrives, he stares, open mouthed at the displays and all rational thought flees his wee head and he becomes Greedy Gus, the little cuss and poor Mom is stuck saying “No, Jeremy. Don’t touch that, Jeremy. You can’t have ten costumes, Jeremy” and on and on until Jeremy is screaming and spinning, Stooge like on the floor and everyone in the store has just had it with Jeremy. Instead, you can log on to the costume site, show Jeremy a few photos and let him pick a few as his favorites. If he is unable to come up with the one that he wants, then that does it. You log out and when he is ready, you come back and you buy the costume. Simple.
Reason Two: You May Not Want to Deal with the Jeremy’s of the World
Online shopping means that you don’t have to deal with sticky screaming toddlers and their angry, muttering under their breath mothers. You don’t have to deal with surly teens making minimum wage. You don’t have to threaten to throw an elbow at the lady who is currently holding one sleeve of that last Maid Marion costume. You only have to deal with your family and their nonsense or wait until they are at school or asleep.
Reason Three: Costume Shops May Not Have Your Size
The local costume shop is typically limited by its size for how many sizes of each type of costume that it can keep in stock. The smaller the shop, the smaller that number becomes. If you are a very common size, you have to pounce like a puma or you will miss out. The other sizes are just out of luck from start to finish. Thankfully, online you can even shop directly by the size you need.
Reason Four: Compare Prices from Several Sites without Moving
Before the days of shopping online, you would go to one store, get a price, and go to the next, get a price and on and on. Or, you dialed a number, asked one person a question, repeated it to five other people, got put on hold for twenty minutes at a clip and then got to do it again to get the second price. Time consuming and nerve wracking, you can just browse web sites, get the best price, look for online discount coupons and save yourself time, money and sanity.
Reason Five: (My Favorite) Get PAID to Shop for Costumes Online
When you buy from the local costume shop you have the satisfaction of knowing you helped the local economy. That’s it. However, when you shop online, you have the ability to get cash back refunds so that you are technically getting paid for shopping. There are several rebate sites, you simply set up an account and then shop for your items and earn the cash back, usually a small percentage of the amount you spent. It is that simple and it makes it so worth it.
