Halloween Costume Ideas for Children

Childs Halloween Costume
Halloween can be such a happy time, with little kids darting from neighbor to neighbor begging for candy, dressed in scary, adorable or indefinable costumes. Children grow up so fast that it is important to treasure all of the moments that you can with them, including these. If you are like many parents and dread Halloween because of the expense of finding just the right Halloween costume, fret no more. Here are some tips for finding budget friendly, kid approved Halloween costumes for both boys and girls:
Angels, Fairies, Butterflies
(It’s all about the wings.)
Tops on many little girl’s lists are costumes that center on the wings and other accessories. The greater the wings that you buy, the easier the rest of the costume should be- at least, that should be the rule. Wings can be stored and used for a new Halloween costume year after year and can transform themselves to being anything in this category. Add a fluffy tail, a white sweat suit and you have the winged horse, Pegasus. Remove the tail, add a halo, you have an angel. Get the idea?
Dog, Cat, Lion, Tiger, Mouse
Little boys and girls may dream of being animals- one of the easiest and cheapest Halloween costumes to make for your little one. The basis for all of these may actually be in their wardrobe right now, so the makeup and accessories will be your only cost. Start with sweat pants and shirt of the appropriate color: brown, black, white for dog and cat, tan, yellow or brown for lion and tiger and gray for mouse. Add ears and a tail, paint the face and your child is ready to howl, meow, growl or squeak his way to lots of candy.
The Hot Sellers and the Trends
Whatever is big on TV and in the theaters will be all over the local stores- including the Halloween costume aisle. The problem is that the child can only wear them once and will either grow out of them or tired of them before the next year rolls around. Head for the pajama or clothing department instead. Use those items for the basis of the costume, add a great accessory that can be played with (at least until Christmas rolls around) and there you have it: a costume that is going to actually be worth the cost because it can be worn more than once.
Halloween Costumes do not have to cost an arm and a leg, in fact, some of the best do not cost a lot at all. Learn some really cool makeup tips and you may only have to pay for the makeup kits. Of course, the better that you do, the more children you will have lined up at your makeup chair!

Your right, it sucks that most costumes are only good for one round of Halloween, but again, what we like this year, we may not like next year, so who really knows what the best route would be. I do like your point about Halloween Costume Accessories, it is a very good one. Accessories are great for children because they basically are toys. Good Post!
