Adult Horror Movie Costumes: Hold me, I’m Scared.

Published by at 11:10 am under Adult Halloween Costumes

Horror movies are people’s favorite for many reasons: they give them the willies, they pump up the adrenaline and if you are any kind of fan of psychology it may lead to more interesting thrills later if you catch my drift. Yes, boys and girls, if you want to entice your loved one to a little canoodling after the movie, skip the sweetsie, lovey dovey stuff and go right for the screaming teen section of your neighborhood video store.

Halloween gets to bring out a little bit of the darkness inside all of us: the scary, not holding doors open for anyone side. And now for your frightened pleasure, I give you these adult Horror Movie Costumes:

1. Michael Myers from Halloween.

How appropriate and how perfectly frightening. Rob Zombie is at the helm of the latest version of Halloween, after successfully directing the first remake of the scream classic a few years ago. Big green coat, scary white, full head mask and you have it made. If someone screams and kicks you in the shin, don’t say that you were not warned.

2. Jason Voorhies from Friday the 13th.

The creep in the old school hockey mask will never go away. (My favorite version of this horror movie costume features a hockey jersey with the Jason mask and crossed chainsaws in front.) You can wear practically anything that you like because the main part of this costume is the mask itself. If you choose a prop, just about any implement of murder is fine, I believe that Mr. Voorhies has impaled a screaming teen on nearly everything imaginable by now.

3. The Saw Puppet from Saw.

Would you like to play a game, asks the movie. Oh, my goodness, no! Creepy, scary, and just plain diabolical, this scary costume starts with the oversized mask and then creeps you out from there. Don’t ask friends if they want to play a game and then expect a ride home. It’s just not happening.

4. Pinhead or the Chatterer from Hellraiser.

Clive Barker is a genius, but in a scary, running away, crying kind of way. If you would like to know how scary he can be, show up in the Pinhead costume and see how many grown adults bolt from the room.

5. Mrs Bates, from Psycho.

Worn by male or female, this horror movie costume is going to creep people out and friend’s are not going to shower anytime soon. Gray, old lady wig (worn slightly askew for really scary effect) the flowered dress, ratty cardigan. Not the kind of Mom you want to bring a girl home to, is she?

No matter what horror movie costume you choose to wear, wear it with conviction. However, a word of warning: be careful who you pop out and scare while in costume because some people do not squeal and run away, they kick, bite and scratch!
