Fairytale Costumes for Adults: Bring Out the Big Bad Wolf in Your Man

Halloween costumes are about one of two concepts: either you enhance and play up an attribute that you already have or you portray one that you wish you had. Either way, a Halloween costume might be the best way to release the inner you, or to tell the story about your relationship. When you are choosing a fairytale costume as an adult, you are really reconnecting with some of your childhood as well as letting some of you inhibitions run free. If you would like to dress in coordinating costumes with your mate, then the fairytale world may be the perfect place to start.
Before you make your final selection for costumes, ask yourself whether you are going to be playing the role of bad and good and who will be who. Don’t worry about expense when choosing your costume either- consider at an investment because you can always wear it at other times as well. Wink, wink.
1. Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. Skirt length will depend on how brave little Red is, but the overall effect is sexy school girl. Flirty and red, with everyone’s favorite accessory, a cape, the Little Red Riding Hood is your chance to play sexy and naïve, lost in the forest. For him, the Big Bad Wolf costume is the best way to let out his inner beastie.

2. Snow White and Prince Charming. Hair as black as ebony and lips like rubies, what woman wouldn’t want to don that pretty blue dress and be Snow White for a night? If beasts and bad guys are not your man’s style, maybe you could talk him into tights and velvet to portray Prince Charming. (He could always opt for one of the seven dwarves.) Now your problem might be teaching him the manners to pull off the look.
3. Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter (or the Cheshire Cat). Alice gets to have long blonde hair and a baby blue dress. Your guy gets to wear a cat costume or a black suit and big hat. Again, skirt length here is defined by your own sense of boldness- the bolder you feel, the shorter the skirt.
4. Dorothy and the Scarecrow (or Tin Man or Lion) The Dorothy costume will always be a fave among Halloween enthusiasts- gingham checks, pigtails, little stuffed dog; what’s not to like? For the man the choice will depend on how he feels about straw, fur or metal.

5. Finally, the Big Bad Wolf and the Little Pigs. Oh okay, before anyone accuses me to choosing the good costumes for the women only, this is an equal opportunity fur-costume choice. She gets to be one of the little pigs, he gets to don the wolf costume again. While suggesting that he be the Wolf again on a night other than Halloween is one thing, if he suggests you pull out the Piggy costume some time, you might be married to one sick individual!
